Central configurator

The setup entry point

00-ConfigurateurDemo is an English Spectre.Console utility, separate from the 49 demos. After building the full solution, open its menu in a normal interactive terminal. With redirected input, use show, validate and set; the program refuses its interactive menu.

show displays settings without keys; validate checks stored configuration without testing network or keys. models queries the Ollama model list at the chosen endpoint, without installing models or writing settings. check chat and check embeddings send a real request using saved settings without qualifying tool calling or business quality.

Edit and save

The menu configures local or API-compatible chat, independent embeddings, timeouts, absolute database and state paths, corpus and RAG eligibility date, read-only policy, backend URLs, session storage, precompiled MCP server and instruction profiles. It starts no service and makes no approval decision for you.

The central file is shared/Configuration/ai-settings.json. Save validates stored profiles, preserves unrelated sections and creates a unique backup beside the file. A stale editor cannot overwrite a concurrent save. Running processes must restart; no rebuild is required. Environment and demo arguments retain priority.

Isolated profile and secrets

For experiments, copy JSON to a new working file and select its absolute path with MAF_DEMO_CONFIG. --config <file> selects an alternative only for the configurator; demos also need the environment variable. Chat changes leave embeddings and data intact. Vector changes require explicit index rebuilding.

JSON contains only key-variable names. Store API key uses masked input and the Windows user environment; existing process values take priority. This action accepts names starting with MAF_ or ending in _API_KEY. Configure the API model before selecting that provider. No secret is passed to set or command arguments, and no ChatGPT account is connected.

Failures to understand

A missing file, invalid URL, empty API model at activation, non-absolute path or concurrent save must fail explicitly. A check fails if service or model is missing; it does not automatically fall back to cloud. show/validate need no model; models needs Ollama service; check needs service and model. The interactive menu and live requests were not rerun for this page.
